Any good beer making kits out there? My boyfriend wants a beer making kit for Christmas. Any suggestions for a good one? I'm afraid he'll end up with some crappy tasting beer or a cheap kit that doesn't even work right. I don't want to spend a whole lot on this. Or would I be better off just ordering the things needed?...whatever they are!
I want to learn how to brew my own beer....which starter kits are the best/most legit? ...I'm looking for one in the >$200.00 range. I've heard that the "Mr. Beer" set-up is total BS, and it really more of a children's hobby kit than an actual set-up that helps you learn the brew process. Which kits out there really work and really help you understand how to make beer? I'm looking for advice from people who already know how to brew. Links, advice, enouragement appreciated. Thanks.
which home brewing kits are best for beer? i want to try brewing beer myself. i've looked at several starter kits but does any one know which is best? also, why does the beer have to be bottled as opposed to leaving it in the fermentation bucket? how long does the whole process take?
What kind of Beer Brewing Kit should I get? I want to start brewing my own beer. I have never actually done brewed beer, but I want a starter kit. Should I buy a pre-assembled beer kit or get all the peices together? Should I start with a cheap and easy kit like Mr. Beer and then work my way up as I get better at brewing? What are some good recipes or beer ingredient kits?

Beer Kits Using Honey? I want to make a batch of beer with a beer kit using honey instead of the regular fermenting sugar. Im assuming you shouldnt use a whole kg of honey as compared to the sugar. What would be a good ratio of honey used as compared to the regular dextrose?
Are the "Mr.Beer" kits a good way to learn how to brew your own beer? I see these kits everywhere, and I've been interested in learning how to do this for quite some time. I've read online about what you would need to brew your own beer, and it doesn't sound too difficult. However, assembling all of the parts sounds like it could take a while and be expensive, and these Mr. Beer kits give you all the stuff you need for under $150.00. My question is...is there anyone who has used the Mr. Beer kit and liked it? Was it worth it? Have you moved on from using it to build your own system? Is the process of making brewing with the Mr. Beer kit helpful in making you learn how to brew beer professionally or is it just kind of a toy that is nothing at all like actually brewing beer? thanks!
quality of home beer brewing kits? I am looking to start brewing beer in my home. Most kits seems to be reasonably priced 50-100$ which is fine. 2 Questions I have are 1. What quality of beer is made from these kits i.e. Mr Beer etc. Is it better or worse than Natural Light / Coors Light / Bud Light (college beers mostly). ... Hopefully it at least is as good as natural.. and if not what do they taste like. 2. How much money would I save making a batch (in terms of 30 beers, a case).
What happened to all the Wine and Beer making Kits .? Around 10 to 15 Years ago or was it 20 I got a mad Craze to make my own Wine then Beer. I ended up making Beautiful Wine ,then tried making Cider. The Cider was not bad,but I just continued making Wine. Then I stopped making it for Years and forgot about it. At that time the Hobby became very Popular,Kits could be bought in nearly every Shop from Department Store to Booksellers to the Corner Convenience Shop in Ireland. I could Buy a Kit in Easons in O'Connell Street Dublin any time I wanted to. However a couple of Years ago I pondered on whether it would be a good thing to Renew my Hobby again just for the Fun of trying to make a Brilliant Wine or Cider or Beer. Result dismay and Chagrain no more Kits to be seen anymore, they just disappeared off the scene . Why has this happened was it the Government putting its big Boot in things by Regulations Jealous because they were not making any Tax on it. Or was it the Drinks Industry complaining about it being unfair on them, quoting some obscure EU Regulation or other. My question is why has all the Home Wine and Beer Kits disappeared in Ireland ,have they disappeared in Britain as well Curious ????????. I could do things the Hard way of course by Pressing Grapes and letting it Ferment Naturally by acquiring it's own Yeast,I still have the Demijohn Gallon Jars. and the rest of the Paraphernalia . Beer might be Harder I would have to source Hops Etc but it could be done. Why have the Kits disappeared. Edit , Jane M ,I have not seen any in the Shops in Ireland but I will Google it for Fun to see what the Story is,Thanks.

I am not talking about beer kits either, i am looking to buy single ingredients to make my own recipes. Any leads would be great! Why did the batch of Mr. Beer I made seem to have NO ALCOHOL content? I made a batch of what comes with the Mr. Beer kit (West Coast Pale Ale) just as instructed. The beer came out alright as far as taste, taste quite good actually, but has no alcohol content. I drank (2) 1 liter bottles and did not get even the slightest buzz. Are all of Mr. Beer kits like this or am I missing some crucial step in the process? To further my explanation I should add that I extended the fermntation time to three weeks and the the carbonation time to two (a total of 5 weeks). Maybe the yeast was dead/bad???
best beginner home beer brewing kit? Ok, I want to brew my own beer, but I am a college student and only want to spend tops 130$ (USD) or so for kit and my first batch of beer. I have seen TONS of kits on TONS of sites, but I have no idea what is good for the money. I also really like dark beers so that would be great if you knew of a kit that included how to make a porter or something like that.
